CDU/CSU/SPD Coalition Negotiations: Energy Discussion to Start Thursday

The first round of discussions on energy topics in the ongoing CDU/CSU/SPD coalition negotiations to form the new German government is scheduled to start this Thursday.

Handelsblatt reports that the SPD is planning to present the key elements of a reform of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) by Easter 2014. Offshore wind energy support shall be dealt with even earlier.

The energy working group is scheduled to meet in Düsseldorf on Thursday. The CDU side shall be led by the current Environment Minister Peter Altmaier, the SPD side shall be represented by the State Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Hannelore Kraft.
