Röttgen: 15% Reduction of Solar Feed-in Tariffs for Freestanding Facilities to Start in July

Environment Minister Norbert Röttgen has presented his proposal for the upcoming reduction of solar feed-in tariffs. The proposal differentiates between freestanding and rooftop installations, with different start dates in July and April.

As of 1 April 2010 the feed-in tariffs for new roof-mounted facilities shall by reduced by 15%,

As of 1 July 2010 the feed-in tariff for new freestanding facilites shall be reduced by 15%.  For installation on agricultural land, the reduction shall be 25%.

In addition, a further growth corridor degression scheme shall apply for 2011.  If the additional capacity in 2010 shall be above 3.5 GW, an additional degression of 2.5% shall apply.  If the additional capacity shall be above 4.5 GW, an additional degression of 5% shall apply.

The proposed reduction will have to be discussed within the coalition government, and in will have to be decided upon by parliament.  There seem to be differing views within the coaltion government on the details of the reduction, as Economics Minister Rainer Brüderle yesterday suggested a 17% cut starting in April.
