Additional State Funding for Electric Cars Postponed

The ruling coalition government reportedly does not want to increase state funding for electric cars at the official launch of the National Electromobility Initiative on 3 May 2010.

Due to the financial strain on the federal budget the government allegedly wants to postpone a decision on whether and how to improve funding until autumn. At that time, the seven working groups of the National Electromobility Initiative could present first results.

Presently, electromobility is sponsored by the National Electromobility Plan under which a total of EUR 500 million are being allocated in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Additionally, a research program funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research provides EUR 200 million for the period from 2005 to 2013.
