Nuclear Phase-Out Depending on Safety?

The expected new German coalition government of the CDU/CSU and FDP parties is in talks about a coalition agreement. Instead of the fixed time limit of 32 years for the operation of all German nuclear power plants agreed under the former government, the coalition may agree on an individual phase-out that depends on the safety of the individual plant.  Another sticking point in the negotiations are the extra profits the utilities may have from an extended operation of their plants.  The coalition wants to skim off part of the profits, according to the CDU Environmental Minister of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg at least 50%.
