Portfolio Management Helps to Reduce Electricity Costs

Holger Clever, managing director of the German subsidiary of the Swiss utility Alpiq Holding AG, calls on industrial customers to actively manage their electricity contracts.  Middle-sized companies could reduce their electricity bills by 5 to 10%, he claims.  For a company with an annual electricity consumption of 100 GWh, electricity costs amount to roughly EUR 5 billion, resulting in a savings potential of EUR 250,000 to EUR 500,000.
