MoU signed for new European Association for Storage of Energy

On the occasion of a European conference concerning European energy research, a Memorandum of Understanding for the foundation of the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) was signed, the German utilitiy RWE AG, one of the signatories, announced.

As energy storage was only considered a topic of secondary importance in the existing associations and committees, the foundation of EASE was the right step, RWE said. The current situation did not reflect the future relevance of energy storage, especially in light of the rising amount of renewable energy.

It shall be EASE’s main task to assess and quantify the need for energy storage and to propose solutions on an international level. Apart from theoretical analysis, EASE shall also be involved in testing technologies in pilot projects.
