Installation of BorWin1 in North Sea Completed

Transpower stromübertragungs gmbh reports  that the installation of the mains power connection “BorWin1” in the North Sea has been completed.  Reportedly, the 200 km connection to the transpower network is the world’s longest cable route built to date for an offshore wind park.

ABB AG developed and installed 400 megawatt high voltage direct current transmission.  According to transpower test operation is now starting on a step-by-step basis.   Final commissioning shall take place as soon as the planned wind park, the output of which will be taken on by BorWin1, will have been realised.
