BMWI: Share of RES in Gross Electricity Consumption Reaches 27.8% in 2014

The share of renewable energy sources in German gross electricity consumption reached 27.8% in 2014, up from 25.4% in 2013, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy announced. This is even slightly higher than the 27.3% announced by the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) in January 2015 as a preliminary figure.

Increasing Contribution of Renewables to German Energy Supply in 2010

Preliminary calculations by the Working Group on Renewable Energy Statistics (AGEE-Stat) for the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU) show that the share of renewables in Germany’s electricity supply rose by about 0.5% to 17% in 2010. The share for heat increased to just under 10% in 2010 (2009: 9.1%) and the share in fuel consumption rose slightly to an estimated 5.8% (2009: 5.5%). Overall, renewables accounted for roughly 11% of Germany’s total final energy consumption for electricity, heat and fuels in 2010 (2009: 10.4%).
