EEX/EPEX Spot: Splitting German Power Market Increases Cost of Power Supply by up to EUR 100 Million per Year

A study carried out on behalf of the energy exchanges EEX and EPEX Spot comes the conclusion that a split of the German-Austrian power market into two bidding zones would increase the cost of power supply by up to EUR 100 million per year.

Federal Council: German 45 Day National Gas Reserve Resolution

On 11 July the Federal Council (Bundesrat) adopted a resolution aimed at ensuring a permanent contribution of gas storage facilities to the German energy supply by asking the German government to create a national gas storage reserve lasting for 45 days.
