Energy Efficiency Including Renovations of Buildings and NAPE Climate Measures Among the Biggest Items to Increase State Aid

Measures to increase energy-efficient renovations of buildings and energy efficiency in general as well as other measures included in the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NAPE) are the biggest items aside from broadband expansion that increased state aid in the federal budget for 2016, the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) said. Government approved the ministries 25th report on state aid yesterday.

Ministerial Draft Tightens Regulations on Marketing Financial Products to Small Investors

The Federal Ministry of Finance has presented a ministerial draft of a Kleinanlegerschutzgesetz (Small Investor Protection Act) that aims to tightens regulations in existing laws for the marketing of financial products to small investors, creating more transparency in financial investments, including in renewable power. In January 2014 the renewable energy group Prokon filed for insolvency. The company had raised major amounts of money from retail investors promising high rates of return.

BMF Advisory Committee Proposes More Adaptation and Less Mitigation to Address Climate Change

In a study commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Finance (Bundesfinanzministerium – BMF), the Scientific Advisory Committee at the BMF (Wissenschaftlicher Beirat beim Bundesministerium der Finanzen) calls the results of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen disappointing and advises to do more adaptation and less mitigation in reaction to climate change.
