BMVBS and KfW Start New Support Programme for Energy-Efficient Renovation of City Districts

The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) and the state-owned KfW Development Bank (KfW) have launched a new support programme “Energy Efficient Renovation of Cities – Energy Efficient Supply of Districts” (Energetische Stadtsanierung – Energieeffiziente Quartiersversorgung) to promote energy efficiency in the municipal sector.

Revised Offshore Installations Ordinance (SeeAnlV) Enters Into Force

The revised Offshore Installations Ordinance (Seeanlagenverordnung – SeeAnlV) entered into force today after having been promulgated yesterday. The revision shall speed up permitting procedures, in particular for offshore wind farms.

Federal Cabinet Agrees on Draft Bill to Facilitate Construction of Offshore Wind Farms

The Federal Cabinet yesterday agreed on a draft bill from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) for an Act Revising Maritime Law Provisions (Entwurf eines Ersten Gesetzes zur Änderung schifffahrtsrechtlicher Vorschriften). The Act shall facilitate and accelerate the permitting procedure for offshore wind farms in the Exclusive Economic Zone and the power cables connecting them to the grid.

A subsidy race for the highest government grants has to be avoided, said Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Peter Ramsauer at the meeting of EU Transport Ministers yesterday. He called for a coordination of support schemes on the EU level.

German Government Plans for 40 Offshore Wind Farms

Shortly before the Federal Election scheduled for 27 September 2009 the CDU/SPD coalition government wants to promote wind energy.  According to Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, the Federal Government is planning to have 40 off-shore wind farms constructed in the North and Baltic Sea.  He announced to present a draft ordinance (Verordnung) on wind farm locations on Wednesday.  Locations in the North Sea would be decided about first.
