BSH Publishes Update of Federal Offshore Plan for German EEZ in the North Sea

The Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) has published an update of the Federal Offshore Plan (Bundesfachplan Offshore) for the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea (BFO-N). The update contains minor changes concerning power line routes and locations of installations. Besides it reduces the required depth of cover for power cables including in traffic separation areas (Verkehrstrennungsgebieten) in the EEZ from 3 metres to 1.5 metres, BSH said.

TenneT, Statnett and KfW Sign NordLink Cooperation Agreement for Joint Investment in First German-Norwegian Interconnector

By signing the ownership agreement for the NordLink interconnector between Germany and Norway, partners TenneT, Statnett, and KfW IPEX-Bank have made the final investment decision for the project, KfW reports. The 623 km HVDC link with a capacity of 1,400 MW will be the first direct connection between the two countries. The cable shall further the integration of the power markets and help integrate the increasing renewable energy production by allowing the exchange of power, thereby increasing the security of supply.

Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography to Consult on Update of Federal Offshore Grid Plan for German North Sea

The Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) is to put up an update of the Federal Offshore Grid Plan (Bundesfachplan Offshore) for the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea and an update of the environmental report for consultation in the period dating from 29 July 2014 to 9 September 2014.

Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography Presents First Federal Offshore Grid Plan for the North Sea

In accordance with its obligations under the revised German Energy Act (EnWG), the Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) has presented the first federal offshore grid plan (Bundesfachplan Offshore) for the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the North Sea. It specifies and supplements maritime planning with regard to the planning of offshore grids.

BSH Starts Consultation on Amended Draft of Offshore Grid Plan

On 28 Septrember the Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) has published the amended draft of the offshore grid plan (Offshore-Netzplan) and started a public consultation. The public is asked to comment by 29 November 2012. The respective documents as well as an environmental report can be found online.

Revised Offshore Installations Ordinance (SeeAnlV) Enters Into Force

The revised Offshore Installations Ordinance (Seeanlagenverordnung – SeeAnlV) entered into force today after having been promulgated yesterday. The revision shall speed up permitting procedures, in particular for offshore wind farms.

BSH Approvals for Offshore Wind Turbines Total More Than 2,000 in December 2011

By approving the construction of 97 wind turbines for the wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 2 on 31 December 2011, the number of offshore wind turbines so far approved by the Federal Agency for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) exceeds 2,000 turbines, the agency said at its annual press conference.

Permitting Problems for Offshore Wind Park Foundations?

Financial Times Deutschland (FTD) yesterday reported that the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (Bundesamt für Naturschutz – BfN) denies wind parks the necessary permits for the foundations for nature conservation reasons.  BfN today rejected the report as faulty.
