The New German Incentive Scheme for Electric Cars – Really EUR 4,000 in May?

To boost electric car sales in Germany, the government last week presented a new initiative, proposing incentive premiums of EUR 4,000 for all-electric cars and EUR 3,000 for plug-in hybrids. The initiative was presented after a high-level meeting at the Chancellery between several ministers and car industry representatives. The project is still on the political level, so that several details of this e-mobility initiative still have to be worked out. As half of the premium shall not be paid by the government but by (participating) car manufacturers, we still have to see who will pay the premium, and whether commercially the premium will be only half of the politically announced figure.

BDEW Strongly Criticises Draft Ordinance for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations for Lack of Incentives and Unnecessary Bureaucracy

The Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) has strongly criticised a draft ordinance regulating charging stations for electric vehicles prepared by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), which has not been officially published. BDEW mainly criticises a lack of incentives and unnecessary bureaucracy.

Hamburg Presents Master Plan for Expansion of Charging Stations for Electric Cars

With a new master plan the City of Hamburg intends to increase charging stations for electric cars to 592, including 70 locations with DC charging stations for fast recharging. Hamburg and the German Federation are supporting the expansion with EUR 4.7 million.

BDEW Starts Issuing Identification Numbers for Electric Cars

The Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) on 1 March 2014 started to issue uniform identification numbers that shall allow drivers of electric cars easy access to (preferably) all charging stations accessible to the public.

BDEW: Number of Charging Points and Electric Cars on the Rise

The number of charging points for electric cars has increased by 15% from roughly 3,900 in December 2012 to approximately 4,400 , at 2,033 charging stations) by mid 2013, the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) informed, following a survey among members.

BDEW to Issue Identification Numbers for Electric Cars for Easy Use of Charging Stations

The Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) has agreed to act for a three year period as the issuing office for identification numbers for electric cars that shall allow drivers easy access to (preferably) all charging stations accessible to the public.

BDEW: Expansion of Charging Stations for Electric Cars Making Good Progress

A survey amongst member companies showed that the expansion of charging stations for electric cars was making good progress, the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW) announced. There was on average one public charging point for two electric cars, the association said.
