DIW Wants to Combine the Energy Turnaround and Rescue of Banks

The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) warns of a credit crunch for financing of the transposition to renewables. It suggested to combine the rescue of the financial sector with the transformation of the energy system, by forcing the banks to invest in the energy turnaround.

DIW Paper on Bridges to Sustainable Energy Supply

In a study by Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW, German Institute for Economic Research) published today, Claudia Kempfert and co-author Thure Traber analyse the current energy situation in Germany. The paper includes suggestions for bridging the gap until 2020, when German greenhouse gas emissions shall be reduced by 40% compared with 1990 and renewables shall account for 30% of the energy supply.
