Bundesrat Clears Renewable Energies Package, including 2011 Solar Feed-In Tariff Reduction

The Bundesrat (Federal Council) today cleared the European Law Alignment Act for Renewable Energies (EAG EE). the act transposes Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, but most importantly cuts solar feed-in tariffs and the so-called green power privilege pursuant to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).

Bundestag Adopts Renewable Energy Amendments, including 2011 Solar Feed-In Tariff Reduction

The German Bundestag (Parliament) yesterday adopted a revision of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act, including in particular the recently agreed changes for solar feed-in tariffs, for the green power privilege, and changes due to the transposition of Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources.

Federal Cabinet Approves Solar Feed-in Tariff Cuts and Changes for Green Power Privilege

In a attempt to cut down costs related to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), the main support scheme for renewable energy in Germany, the Federal Cabinet (Bundeskabinett) yesterday approved solar feed-in tariff cuts.  The cuts shall apply as of 1 July or 1 September 2011, depending on the type of installation. The Cabinet also agreed on a reduction of the green power privilege. In addition, the government announced plans to cut back certain biomass support in 2012.
