Joint Information By German TSOs on New Website

The four German transmission operators 50Hertz, Amprion, TenneT and TransnetBW (TSOs) provide joint information no longer on the “EEG-KWK.net” website, but on www.netztransparenz.de. This includes important information regarding the EEG account that balances the expenses for renewable transfer payments to renewable power plant operators against the revenue obtained from the sale of the renewable energy by the TSOs.

Renewable Surcharge Account Deficit Reduced in 2013 – Expenses EUR 19.4 bn for 57.8 TWh

2013 ended with a deficit of EUR -225,324,417.42 on the EEG account that balances the expenses for renewable transfer payments to renewable power plant operators against the revenue obtained from the sale of the renewable energy at the exchanges and the so-called EEG surcharge, the four German transmission system operators (TSOs) informed. The deficit has been carried forward to 2014. At the end of 2012 the deficit had amounted to EUR -2,691,166,648.46.

Renewable Surcharge for 2013 Rises by Almost 47% to 5.277 ct/kWh

Today the four German transmission system operators (TSOs) officially announced the surcharge for renewable energy pursuant to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) for 2013, the so-called EEG surcharge (EEG Umlage). As widely expected it will rise from  3.592 ct/kWh in 2012 to 5,277 ct/kWh in 2013, constituting an increase of 46.9%. Consumers that cannot reclaim the (additional) 19% VAT will pay 6.28 ct/kWh in total.

EEG Equalisation Scheme Account with Negative Balance by End of June

The EEG equalisation scheme account of the German transmissions system operators as of 30 June 2012 shows a negative balance of  EUR -224,227,352.25 . At the same time last year, the balance was positive at EUR 380,084,807.10. This gives renewed rise to speculations on the size of EEG surcharge increase for next year.

2012 EEG Surcharge Increases Slightly to 3.592 ct/kWh

The German transmission system operators (TSOs) have today published the EEG reallocation charge (also called EEG surcharge) for 2012. It amounts to 3.592 ct/kWh. This constitutes a slight increase compared with the 2011 charge of 3.53 ct/kWh.
