Dena Proposal to Tap Potential of Demand Side Management by German Companies to Help Balance the Electricity System

Demand side management by German companies is still rarely used to help balance the German electricity system, e.g. by providing operating reserve or interruptible loads, a working group established by the German Energy Agency (dena) found. A dena paper proposes various measures to improve demand side management, but warns that potential may not be as high as some predict.

TSOs Publish Grid Surcharge for Interruptible Loads for 2015

Here comes data on electricity surcharge No. 4 for 2015: The surcharge on grid fees final consumers have to pay in 2015 for costs incurred by the transmission system operators (TSOs) relating to contracts on interruptible loads is 0.006 ct/kWh, the TSOs announced.

Bundestag Adopts Ordinance on Interruptible Loads

Yesterday the Bundestag (Parliament) adopted an ordinance issued by the government on “Contractual Agreements Concerning Interruptible Loads” (ref. no. 17/11671) as amended by the Economics Committee (ref. no. 17/11886).  Pursuant to the ordinance, large electricity consumers shall shed loads in cases of bottlenecks, thus stablising the grids. In return they shall receive a compensation that is passed on to electricity consumers.
