National Electromobility Iniative: Agreement with Government on Next Steps to Boost Electromobility

Despite progress in the number of registered electric cars and the number of models available, Germany has still a long way to go to reach the government’s goal of having 1 million electric cars on German roads by 2020. On the occasion of the National Electromobility Conference in Berlin on 15/16 June 2015 the National Electromobility Initiative (NPE) informed that it agreed with the government on the next steps for the market launch.

National Electromobility Initiative Presents 3rd Report on Electromobility in Germany

The National Electromobility Initiative (Nationale Plattform Elektromobilität – NPE) presented its third report on the progress reached in Germany with respect to the government’s goal of having one million electric cars on German roads by 2020. NPE and the competent ministries concluded that Germany was well under way in the market preparation stage, but still had a lot of work to do. The ministers emphasised that the government wanted to continue providing financial support for R&D.

Showcase Electromobility: Support for Regional Electromobility Projects

Electromobility, an aspect of the German energy policy, which was overshadowed by other energy-related developments in the recent past, has made headlines again as the federal government decided which regional electromobility projects it wants to support within the framework of the “Showcase Electromobility” programme (Schaufenster Elektromobilität) .

National Electromobility Initiative Submits 2nd Report – Government Programme Electromobility

The National Electromobility Initiative (Nationale Plattform Elektromobilität – NPE) submitted a second report to Chancellor Angela Merkel containing an analysis of the potential of electromobility  and strategies to achieve the government’s goal of having one million electric cars on German roads by 2020. The government in turn announced to adopt a “Government Programme Electromobility” (Regierungsprogramm Elektromobilität) on 18 May 2011.

Interim Report National Electromobility Initiative

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWI), the Minstry for the Environment, the Ministry of Transport (BMVBS) and the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) have received an interim report from the National Electromobility Initiative (Nationale Plattform Elektromobilität – NPE).
