New BMWi Energy Research Funding Notice Published: Support for Whole Energy Value Chain Including Renewables, CCS and Energy Efficiency

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has published a new energy research funding notice (Förderbekanntmachung) that has become effective on 1 January 2015. The notice relates to the government’s 6th Energy Research Programme. In line with the programme it provides support for research along the whole energy value chain from power generation (including CCS) to transmission, distribution and storage as well as for energy efficiency.

Federal Government Allocates EUR 50 Million in New Funds for “Innovation Alliance Photovoltaic”

Since 2010 the Federal Government supports R&D by German photovoltaic companies, suppliers and research institutions through the “Innovationsallianz Photovoltaik”. A new support programme launched in May 2013 provides additional funds of EUR 50 million for projects of the German photovoltaics industry aimed at reducing manufacturing costs, achieving competitive advantages by cutting-edge technologies and tapping into new markets.

Economics Ministery Launches Research Project “Energy-Efficiency Factory”

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has launched the project “Energy-efficient Factory for Interdisciplinary Technology and Applied Research” (eta-Fabrik). Its aim is to research and optimise energy-efficiency at all stages of the industrial production process.

Joint Ministry Support Programme for Research into Modern Electricity Grids with National and International Focus

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) launched a new support programme worth EUR 150 million for research on modern, so-called future-proof, electricity grids.
