MoU for North Seas Countries Offshore Grid Initiative Signed

On Friday, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a network linking offshore windfarms in the North Seas. The MoU covers a surface area of about 760,000 km² in the North Sea, including the Channel, the Celtic Sea, and the Irish Sea. Energy capacity from the European offshore sector is considered to be bigger than that from the oil capacity in the Middle East.

Some Thoughts on the European Supergrid for Renewable Energy

The plan of Germany, Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, and Ireland to build a European supergrid in the North Sea to make better use of renewable power generation across borders is attracting more and more attention.
