BNetzA Consultation on Sale of EEG Electricity by Transmission System Operators

Since 1 January 2010 the four German transmission system operators (TSO) sell electricity from renewable energy sources for which fixed feed-in tariffs are paid in accordance with the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) at the spotmarket of the EEX electricity exchange. The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) is currently in the process of drafting an evaluation report on the Equalisation Scheme Ordinance (AusglMechV), which forms the legal basis for the EEG electricity sale at the EEX. As the AusglMechV also provides for the possibility to assign third parties with the sale of the EEG electricity, the agency has started a consultation process.
