TSOs Activate Reserve Power Plants Due to Expected High Wind Power Input

For the first time this winter the German transmission system operators (TSOs) have activated reserve power plants in Germany and Austria as a precautionary measure to balance an expected high winter power input of 24,000 Megawatt, a spokesperson of Tennet TSO is reported to have told the news agency dpa.

BNetzA: First German Transmission System Operators Certified

On Friday the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) issued the first decisions concerning the certification of electricity and gas transmission system operators (TSOs).  Two of the four TSOs in the electricity sector (50 Hertz Transmission GmbH, Amprion GmbH), and 6 gas TSOs (bayernets GmbH, GRTgaz Germany GmbH, bw nets terra GmbH, Nowega GmbH, jordgasTransport GmbH and Fluxys TENP GmbH) have been certified. Tennet TSO GmbH did not get certified.

BNetzA: First Draft Decisions on Certification of German Transmission System Operators

The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) informed that it submitted the first draft decisions concerning the certification of electricity and gas transmission system operators (TSOs) to the European Commission. As things currently stand, Tennet TSO GmbH was considered not to meet the certification criteria.

Grid Development Plan Consultation: 3,800 km of New Power Lines and Grid Modernisation

The four German transmission system operators (TSOs) Amprion GmbH, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, Tennet TSO GmbH and Transnet BW GmbH have presented the first national ten-year grid development plan. It contains measures to modernise, enhance and extend the electricity networks that the TSOs consider necessary over the next ten years. The grid development plan is up for public consultation from 30 May to 10 July 2012.
