Germany Met 2012 Kyoto Protocol Target in 2008

Germany met the emission targets for the 2008 to 2012 period under the Kyoto Protocol already in 2008, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Saftey (BMU) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) announced in a joint press release. BVerfG: Application of Emission Allowance Reduction Factor to be Reviewed Again by BVerwG

The Federal Constitutional Court (BVerfG) on 10 December 2009 held that the Federal Adminstrative Court (BVerwG) has to review again the specific application of the reduction factor by the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) for the allocation of emission allowances granted under the Allowance Allocation Act 2007 (ZuG 2007).
