BNetzA: Consultation on Capacity Allocation for Offshore Grid Connection

The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has opened a determination procedure (Festlegungsverfahren) to establish criteria to allocate offshore grid connection capacity. It has published a key issue paper and asked for comments by 31 January 2012.

First German Off-shore Wind Farm Commissioned

Alpha Ventus, Germany’s first off-shore wind farm, was officially commissioned today. Participating in the ceremony were Federal Environment Minister Dr. Norbert Röttgen and the CEOs of the construction consortium’s member companies, Dr. Werner Brinker of EWE, Dr. Wulf Bernotat of E.ON and Tuomo Hatakka of Vattenfall Europe. Wetfeet Offshore Windenergy GmbH, Wolfschlungen, on Friday presented its plans for the construction of Wetfeet Wind Park Global Tech I. German Government Plans for 40 Offshore Wind Farms

Shortly before the Federal Election scheduled for 27 September 2009 the CDU/SPD coalition government wants to promote wind energy.  According to Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, the Federal Government is planning to have 40 off-shore wind farms constructed in the North and Baltic Sea.  He announced to present a draft ordinance (Verordnung) on wind farm locations on Wednesday.  Locations in the North Sea would be decided about first.
